The SRS Magpie Electromagnetic Release Payload is a compact payload delivery and release system designed specifically for the Magpie UMS.

Using an electrically controlled holding magnet, the payload allows Magpie operators to carry and remotely release compatible objects during flight. The electromagnetic system can support loads up to 4 lb when used with an appropriate ferrous attachment surface.

The payload attaches directly to the Magpie UMS using integrated mounting clips and is normally installed in the rear modular payload position. Its compact design allows the aircraft to retain the front payload position for other compatible mission equipment when aircraft weight, balance, and configuration permit.

Payloads can be attached directly when constructed from a suitable ferrous material or indirectly by incorporating a compatible ferrous attachment point onto the item being carried.

The Electromagnetic Release Payload provides Magpie UMS operators with a simple, reusable solution for remote delivery, placement, and release applications without requiring a dedicated mechanical latch or disposable release mechanism.
